2025 Mule Deer Season
Big bucks have returned to the rugged, high alpine mountains of the Wyoming Range! 2025 provided our clients and guides the honor of chasing some true trophy class bucks again this year. The antler growth was far above average for the limited number of upper age-class bucks. Check out the amazing trophies our clients and guides fought for in 2025. What a privilege to hunt these amazing animals!
There is a finite number of true trophy bucks in western Wyoming right now. NTO scouted and chased a decent number of 190-200+ class deer this year, more than we have seen in the last couple of years. This doesn’t mean it’s easy. For example, one of our guides and his hunter were 250 yards from an over 200 inch Wyoming buck feeding behind some trees in an avalanche chute. While seconds away from getting a clear shot on this monster, some other hunters shot 5 times at over 800 yards and killed the buck. That’s hunting these days! Another over 190 class double inline buck from scouting was hit by one of our hunters and lost. These experiences were still a privilege, but not easy. Several of our target bucks were killed by other outfitters. The buck pool is getting smaller and our clients need to understand the new reality. We remain thankful and appreciative of the chance to hunt these great bucks.
We had the honor of chasing a true Wyoming Giant again this year, a buck that was well over 40 inches wide. What an adventure that hunt was! The buck lived in a grueling area to hunt. Hats off to the guides and hunters who fought hard trying to get him. One of our guides actually got hung up in the stirrup on his horse and drug down the trail while hunting the 40 inch giant. A very accomplished rider (or an angel from the Lord) came riding out of the darkness and saved our guide’s life. A true miracle! Nothing else matters besides that our guide is safe. God was certainly watching over him! We are beyond grateful to the rider in dark. We ended up not killing that giant deer, but we’ll be chasing him again next year!
Western Wyoming remains the best area in the state to hunt true trophy class bucks. If you decide to come and hunt with us, you must know and completely understand that there is a limited number of big deer right now. The number of bucks and the tough hunting conditions will not change in the immediate future in my humble opinion. Lack of management has created an over crowding in some areas and a slow recovery of herd health after our hard winters. This mule deer hunt will test you in ways you never imagined. You must come willing to be tested mentally and physically. NTO is excited to share the best of what we have with our clients.
