Robb’s guide service is exceptional and I would recommend him to anyone who is willing to work hard and keep trying until you reach your goal. A big thanks to Robb, his family, camp staff and the guides that work for him – mine were AWESOME!

I just wanted to pass along that I had an epic hunt with Barney and Courtney as my guide and spotter. They were both very professional and extremely passionate about hunting big bucks. Should I ever have the opportunity to hunt with your outfit again in the future, I hope I have the opportunity to hunt with this exemplary team. They absolutely put everything they had to make this hunt great and I just wanted to pass this note along to you.

Robb,

I love to hunt and wanted to pen a letter while my thoughts of hunting with your outfit are still fresh in my mind. I originally booked with NTO because of your reputation for taking large deer, and because of the breathtaking area in which you hunt. What I hadn’t expected was the superlative quality of your staff. Combined with the beautiful views and fresh air, your hard working and optimistic staff left me inspired. Barney and Courtney worked tirelessly and are genuinely great people. I can say the same for Kara, Tony, Troy, Dylan, Nick and James. They’re all amazing, and I think that speaks directly to you and Brenda too. Thank you for putting together such a unified group whose altruism was refreshing. I hope to hunt again with you soon.

Robb and Brenda,

I would like to thank you for an awesome experience hunting with your crew this year. I was fortunate to harvest a nice bull early on the first morning of hunt. I had a great guide and would love to hunt with him again sometime. Robert, the cook, did an excellent job of cooking and keeping the camp running smoothly. I was able to boil my skull and do a thorough job of cleaning it for transportation with his help. He also helped me get my van unstuck. LOL… For being on the top of a mountain in a wilderness, you have a very impressive operation. Thank you for hunting with us.

From Jason

All I can say is WOW, what I experienced was incredible. I want to thank Robb, Dr. Brenda Wiley and my guide Johnny Helton, at NTO for the outstanding deer hunts in 2012 and 2014. NTO is a first class, full service outfitter that prides itself on quality. The entire operation that you run is by far the best outfit that I know of. The crew that you have employed, from the guides to the cooks, are some of the nicest and most respectful that I have ever encountered in my hunting excursions. The food and lodging are five-star. My guide Johnny is a renowned expert and guided me on both hunts. He is extremely knowledgeable on the country. He was hard working and easy to get along with and has great work ethic and experience in spotting animals from long distances. Johnny was more than my guide, he was a mentor and now am pleased to call him my friend. Please consider me a life long customer, a reference and an Advocate for Non Typical Outfitters.

Robb, Brenda and All,Home safely and have had time to reflect on the hunt in Wyoming. What a great 4 days spent in some majestic country. I came home with a trophy of a lifetime and this doesn’t happen on every hunt that you go on. That’s what makes big mule deer so special to me. You can buy a hunt and kill a big elk almost 100% of the time; not true for big deer.I know James felt bad about the first day we encountered this buck and we didn’t get him killed. I am so thankful we didn’t. That second day was so special. James found the buck and got us back around the hill and set up. The 1½-hour wait for the buck to stand up gave me time to check parallax many times, knob settings to make sure they were right, rifle cant and many more things to try to get my part done right. The anticipation for that length of time was exciting. It all added to the total experience and made it enjoyable for me. Great time. I hope Seth and Richard were able to connect on a trophy as well. Pete could have killed a 4 point on the way out of camp but declined.Hope the elk hunt was successful and safe. I will be in touch. Thanks again.R.J.

From Ron Simmons'

To hunt bears or not to hunt bears?  That’s a question I’ve pondered for many years.  I’ve backpacked and hunted the Olympic and Cascade Mountain ranges in my home state of Washington since I was a Boy Scout.  After a handful of encounters in some very majestic places, bears took on a special, almost sacred significance to me.  For many years I chosen to not actively pursue bears and focused my efforts on deer, elk and turkeys.  Then, during a 2015 spring backpacking trip in Washington’s Blue Mountains, I had  a stare down with a large blond boar that got my blood pumping and activated an innate desire that had been lying dormant for all these years.

Spring bear hunting in my home state is a limited quota hunt that can take years to draw.  I knew Robb Wiley of Non-Typical Outfitters had a long history of successful bear hunts.  I hunted Antelope with Robb in 2014 and was very impressed with his professionalism, character and commitment to giving his hunters the best experience possible.  So when I decided to pursue bears there was no question that NTO was my preferred choice.

From Bobby & Justin

Bobby and I both had a great time on the elk hunt this year. This was his first experience with any type of hunting and he really enjoyed it. He has since went on a duck hunt with one of his buddies back home and seems to really be getting into hunting and wants to learn more about it. We may have helped create a new hunter with this experience.Dylan was an excellent guide, we both enjoyed hunting and just hanging out with him. His knowledge of the mountains and the wildlife native to that area was immense and he was more than happy to answer all the questions that Bobby and me could come up with. He made the whole experience a great time from start to finish, always positive and upbeat and honestly just seemed like a good dude all the way around. Killing a nice bull was the icing on the cake. Tony and Kara were great as well; we got to meet a lot of really nice people in camp and made some new friends.I have another friend here at home who has asked me to go antelope hunting in 2018. I recommended that we go with y’all. All my experience hunting with your operation has been great so far so I didn’t see any need to do anything different. I have been presented with an opportunity to go to Africa in 2019 which has always been a dream of mine and I can’t pass up this chance. However, between now and then I would like to bring my friend out to hunt antelope with y’all in 2018. I believe we will probably do the trophy hunt. Thanks again for another great hunt and a great experience. I’m already looking forward to getting back out to see y’all again.

Robb and Brenda,

I want to thank you and your team at Non-Typical Outfitters for the excellence, knowledge and quality or the shooting course you put on this July. You went above and beyond in bringing in a group of shooters with varying levels of marksmanship and providing such a high quality training venue. The techniques wisdom and guidance I learned at your course are a game changer and took the marksmanship skills I learned in the Marine Corps to the next level. Your professionalism and dedication to your hunters is unparalleled. Thank you for the outstanding training and all-around enjoyable time. Semper Fidelis!

From Lary

I want to tell you how much I enjoyed the shooting school. It surpassed every expectation I had. I was blown away by the expertise that you had available and Robb’s realistic solutions to everyday mountain shooting situations were beyond anything I had ever thought of. I came with the idea that me and my equipment might not be up to the task as I am relatively new to this game. I came away with an excellent level of confidence in both my equipment and myself. Good shooting is a mental issue I believe and your school did everything it could to put us in positive situations with every opportunity to succeed and increase our confidence level. I don’t know how to thank you. I hope to put these lessons and confident approach to my shots to the test at the end of the month in the NWT on my sheep hunt.

Update: I got ‘er done! Used Rob’s tricks with a stuff sack for rear rest. Rock solid at 327 yards. Beautiful wild country. Larry Partridge 2015

Robb and Brenda,

Just a thanks for the great time at your camp for the shooting class. It is obvious you have studied these positions and support tools under hunting conditions. My confidence has been boosted to a higher level. I really feel I can be successful at ranges I never would have tried on a big game animal. Great camp, great crew and a great learning experience for me made for an enjoyable 3 days. Wishing you and crew all the best in this year’s hunting season and keep the pictures coming.

Thanks,

From Albert

I wanted to say that I had the greatest time at the shooting class as it proved to be way better and more fun then I had hoped. It was everything that as a hunter I wanted You and all the guys are awesome and even though I haven’t even hunted with you yet I am already wishing I had done it much sooner. Next year won’t come fast enough which can be a good thing since I learned so many things I can work on to improve my chances of doing my part of the job next year. In the Mountains of SW Wyoming, at a tent camp way up in the Bridger-Teton National Forest, you can have a training experience that's a rare opportunity to improve your shooting & hunting skills. First, let me say I've been involved in firearms training, instruction and competition since I was 15 years old. I'll leave it to say that was a LONG time ago. I also served 36 years in military and civilian law enforcement so I've attended more than the average shooters amount of training for all types of firearms. Hunting has always been, and since retirement, has become an even larger passion in my life. One of my continuing priorities in the hunting field has been to always avoid being "that guy." The one that too often comes into a hunt camp with minimal or nonexistent marksmanship skills, then misses or wounds game. We all know him and probably have hunted with him. And it's usually painful to observe.

From Travis

I just wanted to take a minute and say thank you to Len, Andy and the NTO team for putting this class on. If you are undecided about this class please rest assured that there is great value in this course. You will walk away confident in your rifle with validated drop data for your ammo and some shooting positions that work in a variety of mountain terrain.

I'm from Wyoming and have hunted this region for many years and found this course to be a wealth of information. I learned shooting positions in difficult terrain that I would have never thought of when the moment presented itself. Rob Wiley has truly seen it all as an outfitter and knows what works based on experience. Jarred (NTO guide) is an ex military operator that brings a wealth of information to the table on basic marksmanship and proven shooting positions.

Other students in that class were also a source of great information and learning and I think the #1 cause of missed shots for myself & others seemed to be caused by forgetting to take your turret back to zero, forgetting to dial the dope after ranging the target or not realizing which revolution your turret was on - back to zero or 1 full revolution up from zero. Parallax adjustment was also a big factor especially beyond 500yds.

Great people and a lot of fun! Travis C. 2015
